Harvest is a 1,200-acre master-planned community by Hillwood Communities that spans Argyle and Northlake in Denton County, near SH 114 and I-35. Hillwood started the project with Realty Capital in 2011, broke ground in November 2012, and welcomed the first residents in 2013. Four land acquisitions grew the plan from 3,000 homes to more than 4,000, and Hillwood expects to sell the remaining homes by 2028.
Harvest calls itself DFW's first agrihood. A six-acre working farm with a full-time farmer sits at the center, and residents can grow produce, help with community harvests, and take classes. A 1.5-mile Central Park links four resort-style pools, two fitness facilities, sports courts, trails, a fishing pond, a dog park, and Farmhouse Coffee & Treasures in the restored Faught family farmhouse. A full-time lifestyle manager hosts more than 300 events a year.
For buyers, six builders sell homes from the mid $300s to more than $1 million, from duplex-style homes and townhomes to homesites 31 to 100 feet wide and estate lots of 1 to 3 acres. Taxes run from $2.09 to $2.48 per $100 depending on location and school district. A local buyer's agent compares the builders' lots and incentives and negotiates price, upgrades, and credits before you sign.
