Comparing TurboHome and the Nicole Freer Group for homebuyers
The Nicole Freer Group is a Katy-based team at Corcoran Genesis that serves Houston's suburbs. RealTrends ranked it the No. 1 medium-sized team in the country by transaction sides in both its 2025 and 2026 rankings. TurboHome is a brokerage built around one idea: you keep most of the buyer-agent commission. Both give you a licensed Texas agent. They differ on what happens to the commission and on how the team model shapes your experience.
Quick answer
TurboHome usually returns more cash at closing. At the team's average 2025 price of about $375,000, 2.5% buyer-agent compensation minus TurboHome's $5,000 flat fee leaves about $4,375 for you. On a $500,000 home it is about $7,500. The Nicole Freer Group does not publish a buyer rebate.
The Nicole Freer Group can make sense if you want a very high-volume Houston suburban team with deep experience in new construction communities.

How the Nicole Freer Group works for homebuyers
Nicole Freer started selling homes in 2013, and she and her husband Doug formed the Nicole Freer Group in 2015. The team says it closed 1,019 homes and $379 million in volume in 2025. In February 2024 the Freers opened Corcoran Genesis as a Corcoran franchise, and in 2025 Corcoran Genesis combined with Corcoran Ferester in The Woodlands, giving it more than 65 agents and two offices.
RealTrends has ranked the team No. 1 among medium-sized US teams by transaction sides in its 2025 rankings and again in 2026. Its RealTrends Verified profile shows 989 sides and $371.51 million in 2025, with an average price of about $375,600.
Corcoran's former parent, Anywhere Real Estate, became part of Compass when Compass completed that acquisition on January 9, 2026. The Nicole Freer Group does not publish a buyer rebate or a standard buyer fee. What your agent earns is set in your written buyer agreement and is usually paid from the seller's or builder's side.
How TurboHome works for homebuyers
TurboHome is a full-service brokerage built on a simple trade: you get a licensed local agent, and you keep most of the buyer-agent commission. In California and Texas, you work with an employed TurboHome agent, not a freelancer or a referral. TurboHome charges a published flat fee based on the home price and credits eligible compensation above that fee to you at closing as cash back.
Outside California and Texas, TurboHome matches you with a partner Realtor who returns 0.5% of the purchase price at closing where state law allows it. Either way, your cash back does not depend on which lender you use, and it works if you pay cash.
What it's like to buy with the Nicole Freer Group vs. TurboHome
Day to day, a few differences matter most.
The agent relationship
Buyers with the Nicole Freer Group work with a team agent alongside a dedicated transaction team that handles paperwork and inspections. At nearly 1,000 sides a year, the team runs on systems and specialists, which can mean fast, practiced execution.
TurboHome buyers in Texas work with one employed agent from first tour through closing. Private tours are included at no extra cost, with the listing side's permission, and escrow and closing support are part of the same service.
New construction and negotiated savings
Houston's suburbs have a lot of new construction, and Corcoran describes Corcoran Genesis as knowing both existing and newly built communities in areas like Katy, Cypress, Fulshear, and Sugar Land. The team says its buyers save an average of $25,000 on new construction and $15,000 on resale homes through negotiation. Those are the team's own figures for price negotiation, not cash back.
Any good buyer's agent negotiates price, and TurboHome's agents do too. TurboHome's cash back comes on top of that, from the buyer-agent compensation. When you tour a builder's model home, check whether the builder needs your agent with you or registered on your first visit.
Financial incentives
The team lists partners including CMG Financial, Upward Title, Bryan & Bryan Inspections, and Achosa Home Warranty. Ask for written quotes from other lenders and title companies too before you choose.
Rocket Mortgage offers a lender credit to clients of Compass or Compass-affiliated brokerage agents. It does not say whether Corcoran franchise agents qualify, so ask Rocket whether your agent's brokerage does before you count on it. TurboHome's cash back works with any lender, or if you pay cash, and Cash Advantage lets you make offers with the strength of cash even if you are financing.

The Nicole Freer Group primarily serves clients in Texas, from Corcoran Genesis offices in Katy and The Woodlands.
TurboHome's employed agents serve buyers across Texas and California, including the Houston area. Everywhere else, you work with a TurboHome partner Realtor, who returns 0.5% at closing where state law allows.
In eight states, Alabama, Alaska, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Tennessee, buyer commission rebates are banned or restricted, so no brokerage can pay you a rebate there. Iowa allows them under its licensing rules, and Louisiana's Attorney General said in a 2021 opinion that rebates are permitted. See our buyer rebate guide for the rules in each state.
Costs and fees with TurboHome and the Nicole Freer Group
Buyer-agent compensation is set in your written buyer agreement and is often paid by the seller or builder. The Nicole Freer Group does not publish a standard buyer fee or rebate, so the commission your team agent earns is not returned to you.
Some individual agents at any brokerage will negotiate a credit or a lower fee. If a team agent offers one, get it in writing in your buyer agreement.
TurboHome buyers in California and Texas pay a flat fee instead of a percentage: $5,000 at $500,000 and below, $10,000 through $1 million, $15,000 through $2 million, $20,000 through $3 million, $30,000 through $4 million, $40,000 through $5 million, and $50,000 from $5,000,001 upward. When the seller offers buyer-agent compensation, TurboHome keeps its flat fee and credits the rest to you at closing. The exact amount depends on the price, compensation offered, lender approval, closing instructions, and state law.
In other states, TurboHome partner agents return 0.5% of the purchase price where the money is available and state law allows it.
